The ingredient you don’t see, but we refuse to ignore

At Cuca, some of the most important decisions never appear on the plate. They happen quietly, behind the scenes, in the everyday choices that shape how we cook, how we care, and how we take responsibility for the place we call home.

This is one of those choices.

As part of our ongoing CucaCares commitment, we have changed the oil we use in our kitchen to Certified Sustainable Palm Oil, working together with WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) to ensure that this essential ingredient is sourced more responsibly.

Palm oil is part of daily life in Indonesia, but not all palm oil carries the same story. When produced irresponsibly, it can damage forests, wildlife, and communities. When produced sustainably, it can support livelihoods while helping protect the ecosystems we all depend on.

For us, this was never about making a loud statement. It was about doing the right thing in a practical, meaningful way because caring for our guests means caring about what goes into their food. Caring for our team means helping them understand the impact of the choices we make every day. And caring for our planet means being willing to improve, even in the areas most people never see.

Will this change the taste of your favorite dish? No, but it does change the story behind it. And at Cuca, that matters.

Because CucaCares has never been about perfection. It is about progress. Small steps, taken seriously. Better choices, made consistently. A belief that hospitality should leave people and the world around us a little better than before.
