Sanur is a stretch of beach in southeast Bali, about 30 minutes drive from the airport, which has grown into a little town in its own right. It contains quite number of hotels and resorts and it is the type of place where hip Europeans who have outgrown the party scene go to recharge.
It is also one of the most popular beaches among the Balinese and home to the annual Sanur Village Festival. This year’s event kicked off yesterday and we were there to check out the food bazaar as well as to support The Gangsa, an exclusive villa resort part of Kayumanis family.

The evening was clearly a success and apart from trying the tasty pork ribs by The Gangsa, we found out about a local company which produces great liqueurs. This was quite a finding as “local” is one of Cuca’s mottos.

Sanur es un tramo de playa en el sudeste de Bali, a unos 30 minutos del aeropuerto, que ha ido creciendo hasta convertirse en un pequeño pueblo. Comprende bastantes hoteles y es el típico lugar en el que los europeos que se han cansado de las fiestas nocturnas cargan las pilas. También es una de las playas más populares entre los balineses y acoge el evento anual “Sanur Village Festival”.
Este año el festival comenzó ayer y Kevin y yo nos pasamos para dar una vuelta por el mercadillo de comida y a la vez apoyar a The Gangsa, un complejo de villas parte de la familia Kayumanis. La noche fue claramente un éxito y aparte de probar las deliciosas costillas de cerdo de The Gangsa, establecimos contacto con una empresa local que produce excelentes licores. Esto fue todo un descubrimiento porque uno de los lemas de Cuca es el uso de productos locales.
Si estáis en Bali, os recomendamos que os paséis por Sanur, ¡el festival dura hasta el domingo!
